Ikhfa' Shafawi

RULE NO.31

If a word ends with Mīm sākin and the next word begins with the consonant Ba', then Ikhfa' Shafawi should take place. The pronunciation of Mīm sākin should be concealed and only its lowered nasal sound with a maximum duration of two harakah added to the pronunciation of the next consonant: Ba'.    

Example Analysis:

In Example No. 653, Wamahum Bimu'minin: Ikhfa" Shafawi takes place between Mīm sākin and Ba'.

	وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُمْ بَشَرًا مِثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَخَاسِرُونَ (667)
	وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ بَطْشًا (668)
	وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنْكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ (669)
	ذَلِكَ جَزَيْنَاهُمْ بِبَغْيِهِمْ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ (670)
	فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ (671)
